Bruce Highway closed due to smoke from large grass fire near Gladstone

The Bruce Highway south of Gladstone where there was thick smoke from a large grassfire has been reopened.

Queensland police have reopened the Bruce Highway south of Gladstone in the Iveragh location after closing it due to thick smoke from a nearby grassfire on Sunday.

Queensland Ambulance Service was responding to reports of a two-vehicle crash at that location involving up to three patients who were all in a stable condition in the afternoon, as well.

QAS said a woman in her 50s was suffering chest pain and a woman in her 60s had a head injury.

There were three children involved but no details of any injuries.

Queensland police issued an alert about 3.25pm advising the Bruce Highway was impacted by smoke from a nearby grassfire.

Motorists were being urged to drive with care, delay travel.

Queensland Fire Department reported it had 15 vehicles attending the fire which had increased its size to be 2.5km x 2.5km.
