A long-term project has come to fruition in Mooloolah with a major supermarket to reopen this weekend.
White’s IGA Mooloolah has been upgraded through a $3m, 12-month rebuild process that aims to bring more local offerings to customers.
Co-founders Roz and Michael White said their Jones St store was built and designed for the Mooloolah community.
“It’s been a 12-month rebuild and we’re incredibly proud to offer a store that is 35 per cent larger in size and now reflects the needs and personality of this wonderful community,” Ms White said.
The renovations allow the store to feature an expanded range of local produce, a fresh popcorn machine and expanded floor area and carpark.
The 1522sq m layout, which is 611sq m larger than before, includes 70 additional car spaces to accommodate the growing demand from customers.
The store employs 70 staff, from parents to schoolchildren entering the workforce for the first time.
Ms White acknowledged the customers, staff and suppliers for their patience and help during the renovations.
“This upgrade wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our design team as well as local tradespeople and the patience of our loyal customers and our staff,” Roz said.
Ms White said investing in innovation was her way of keeping pace with the market and community expectations.
“If you sit and do nothing, you’ll fall behind and go out the back door,” Ms White said.
The highly competitive supermarket landscape and amount of options for customers means that White’s IGA has a focus on helping customers be savvy with their budget.
“We aim to be different and unique so customers have a great experience,” Ms White said.
The store will open on Saturday, April 5.
