What’s your suburb most famous for?
Whether it’s raunchy parties and serial killers, or trendy cafes and fancy cars – even if it’s as simple as having a big hill or a heap of tractors – Brisbane suburbs all seem to be known for something.
People have taken to Reddit to discuss the scandals, rumours, tasty treats, and silly quirks that make their suburb famous.

Paddington – Snobbery and Suncorp.
Teneriffe – Woolstores, pretending to be rich, and actual rich .
Greenslopes – The poo jogger of 2018.
Norman Park – Famously known for NOT being the suburb next to Kedron.
Toowong – Rumoured to be where Jack the Ripper was buried.
Runcorn – Streets named after fruit, like Mango, Plum and Orange St.
Rocklea – Flooding and probably one of the best bacon and egg rolls around.
Moorooka – The magic mile of motors.
Upper Kedron – Being confused with Kedron.
Daisy Hill – We have a hill. And, um, that’s about it.
Yatala – Pies.
Boondall – An entertainment centre.
Enoggera – The army.
Hawthorne – Cheap cinema, activewear everywhere, oversized SUVs, mining magnate.
Forest Lake – This one car that you hear when you drive around the suburb you don’t know if it’s gunshots or not, it sounds so bad. Also “does anyone know why the chopper is flying around?”.
Riverhills – On the way to nowhere, and constantly have to say “near the prisons but not Wacol”.
Deagon – A deviation, wetlands and horse racing.
Capalaba – KFC.
Fortitude Valley – Drugs and strippers.
Stones Corner – Crackheads, government housing, gentrification, flooding car parks, cafes, OP shops.
Chandler – Acreage. Hoons doing burnouts in the quiet streets. Athletics. Swimming. Bicycles.
Caboolture – Crackheads and Centrelink – northerners unite.
Toombul – Used to be a great shopping centre that’s past its glory days, got flooded out and now there’s just a big bus stop and a big grass patch.
Inala – Amazing Vietnamese food, scared bus drivers and Annastacia Palaszczuk went to school here.
Jindalee – The other DFO, M5 traffic and flooding.
Bellbowrie/Anstead – A community owned fibreglass sheep that keeps getting stolen. smashed. Has been upgraded but continues to disappear randomly. He’s called Barnaby.
Mount Gravatt – Little India. Westfield. Megachurches.
Auchenflower – The Wesley and flooding.
Carina – One of Brisbane’s most low-key dangerous intersections.
Mount Cotton – Chicken factory and a cheese room at our local IGA.
Brookfield – Tractors.
