The British and Irish Lions rugby stars might have been on Australian shores for the last few weeks, but now their wives and girlfriends are descending upon Brisbane, exploring the best the river city has to offer.
They’ve played games across the country over the last few weeks, even a whistle-stop trip to Brisbane last week, but it seems the players and their loved ones are setting up base here ahead of Saturday’s big match against the Wallabies.
They’ve been dining, shopping and sleeping in some of Brisbane’s best and most iconic venues, and sharing every step online as they go.
See what they’ve been up to.
Emma Canning
Finn Russell’s partner Emma Canning, 28, and their two daughters Charlie and Skye, have been living it up down-under. Last week, ahead of the teams game against the Reds, the girls took full advantage of their tourist status, posting pics on James St, the CityCats, the Wheel of Brisbane, Howard Smith Wharves, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and even enjoying the city’s viral cafe sensation Buttery Boy. The family even celebrated a special milestone on Australian shores, with Skye turning one while they were in Sydney this week. Since arriving back in Brisbane this week they’ve enjoyed family dinners out at Ciao Papi and shopping sprees at Aussie brands like Zimmerman.
Arni Lowe
Wife of James Lowe, Arni Lowe, 29, and their three kids, Norm, Rico and Renn, have set-up camp in the Gold Coast this week. Between strolling the iconic sands of Surfers Paradise and consuming their body weight in babycinos, the family also reunited with long time friend and former Wallaby Joe Tomane, his wife Anastasia and their two children. The New Zealand-born, Ireland based Arni is clearly used to far colder weather than what the Sunshine State has been serving this winter, posting snaps of her and the kids taking a dip in the ocean. The family arrived in Brisbane on Thursday.
Dina Celina Danielsen
Blair Kinghorn’s nutritionist partner, Dina Celina Danielsen, 34, is spending some of her last few weeks as a fiance, Australia-side, flying into Brisbane on Wednesday. Her flights here might have been delayed, but the France-based Norwegian enjoyed every second in pure luxury, after being ‘randomly’ upgraded to first class. She shared glimpses into how the other half live, saying she enjoyed “about ten bottles of Dom P(erignon)”, ate caviar and even showered on her flight. Without little ones in tow, unlike many of the partners, Dina was able to spend her first day on Australian soil relishing in the luxury of her accommodation, enjoying a sleep-in and room service before heading out for a meal with Blair.
Annabel Jones
Glaswegian Annabel Jones, 31, wife of player Huw Jones, and their one-year-old daughter Romy, got her priorities straight when arriving in Brisbane after some time in Melbourne, heading straight for epic sandwich joint Hector’s Deli. Posting a pic of their signature reuben, which she described as ‘bomb’ it’s clear she has good taste. She and Huw have since shared pics from some of our epic riverside vantage points.
Nancy Neath
Just two months into their engagement and Will Stuart’s partner Nancy Neath, 28, is every bit the doting WAG, accompanying him to many of his recent games. She’s spent the last few weeks downunder, buddied up with Finn Russell’s partner Emma Canning as the two shopped and dined up a storm in Sydney. She’s yet to confirm her arrival in Brisbane, but we expect she’ll be here with bells on before Saturday’s big game.
Charissa Schoeman
Perhaps the team’s cutest love-up pair in the game is prop Pierre Schoeman and his wife Charissa, 30, and she has been parading her signature brand of partner-pride all across the country. Charissa arrived in Perth two weeks ago, and has been cheering from the sidelines of games in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra and Adelaide, and is set to return to Brisbane for Saturday’s game.
