The identities of the three people killed in a horror crash on the Gold Coast have been revealed as police investigate the circumstances of the incident, with drugs possibly playing a part.

Lisa Roggenkamp, 47, driver Craig Piper, 50 and Linda Whitby, 48, died when the black sedan they were in crashed into a power pole after colliding with a truck carrying a boat at Arundel on Thursday.

A front seat passenger, Oliver Olibson, 49, survived the deadly crash.

Tributes have begun to flow on social media.

“RIP Lisa Roggenkamp, heaven just got an angel,” one friend posted.

“Condolences to all your family, you will be missed my special friend. Taken to (sic) young.”

Pimpama mum Linda Whitby’s sister, Nicole, and daughter, Taylor, were among those to post touching tributes on social media.

“Missing you already Mum ... rest in peace knowing you’re in a better place,” Taylor posted on Instagram.

Above photos of her and Ms Whitby on Facebook, Nicole wrote: “Miss you sis ... RIP.”

Emergency services were called to the scene on Brisbane Road at Arundel after 12.20pm on Thursday, following reports of the collision where debris stretched for nearly a kilometre.

Police are now investigating whether the driver was a registered heroin user and had “passed out” shortly before the car veered across Brisbane Rd at Arundel about 12.20pm.

Two women in the car, aged 47 and 48 from Pimpama, died at the scene and the driver, a 50-year-old man from the same suburb, died later at the Gold Coast University Hospital.

Their sedan crossed into oncoming traffic at the corner of Brisbane Road and Arundel Dr.

A police source said investigating officers would conduct a search to determine if any drug utensils were in the vehicle.

A dozen ambulance units, including critical care paramedics, were deployed to the scene.

Adam Flory, Senior Operations Supervisor at Queensland Ambulance Service, confirmed two people were already dead when emergency services arrived.

Mr Flory said the driver of one of the vehicles – a man in his late 50s – was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital before he died.

He said another 49-year-old man was transported in a serious but stable condition.

Mr Flory said it was a tragic day with three people killed in the crash.

Five people – two female teenagers, a man in his 40s and a woman in her 50s, were assessed at the scene discharged with minor injuries.
