A man is fighting for life with brain injuries after he was assaulted on a Brisbane street on Sunday, with police releasing vision of the man’s car around the same time in the hunt for clues.

Police investigate serious assault at Inala

A man is fighting for life after he was assaulted on a Brisbane street on Sunday night.

Queensland Police Inspector Chris Knight said a 52-year-old man arrived at Logan Hospital with significant brain injury around 11.30pm on Sunday.

“He was transported to Logan Hospital by some friends, people that we have spoken to,” Mr Knight said.

“At the time he arrived at hospital, he was in and out of consciousness. The significance of his injuries at that stage was considered severe.”

The man was transferred to Princess Alexandra Hospital where he remains in a critical condition after two days.

Mr Knight said police believed the man was assaulted near bushland along Rudyard Street at Inala about 6.30pm on Sunday.

“We believe that he met with some others at this location,” he said.

He said his friends witnessed portions of the incident. “We believe that he was with them prior to and following the assault,” he said.

Police have searched addresses at Inala and Hillcrest in the past 48 hours and are

investigating the whereabouts of a car belonging to the victim, a grey Toyota Rav4 with Queensland registration 979 LP2.

According to police, the vehicle was last seen at a fast-food restaurant on Government Rd, Richlands, between 6pm and 6.30pm on Sunday.

Investigators are also appealing for anyone with dashcam vision from the vicinity of Government Road, between Archerfield Rd and Forest Lake Boulevard, to contact police.
