Three men have been remanded in custody over the theft of firearms and a military-style bayonet from a home in Brisbane’s north last week.
Police allege the three last Tuesday broke into a Carseldine property that was being renovated, with no occupants home at the time.
It is alleged that the offenders – who were unknown to the victim – found a compliant gun safe and went to significant effort to force the safe open before stealing firearms and a military-style bayonet.
Police intercepted the three suspects on the Logan Motorway near Carole Park at Ipswich the following day.
It is alleged the bayonet was found in the vehicle during the arrest.
Later that evening, investigators found and seized the stolen firearms in a shipping container at a Richlands address.

North Brisbane District Inspector Matthew Blunn praised the licensed firearm owner for quickly reporting the offence, as well as officers for the rapid recovery of the stolen firearms.
“We are grateful the licensed firearm owner regularly monitored the security of their firearms and quickly reported the matter to police,” Inspector Blunn said.
“The Queensland Police Service takes firearm safety seriously and investigators left no stone unturned to quickly identify the offenders and locate the stolen weapons to keep the community safe.”
North Brisbane CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Dan Moore said it is an important reminder for anyone who is permitted to legally own a firearm to regularly monitor its security.
“The QPS is regularly conducting firearm security audits for anyone who is licenced to hold a firearm to ensure the community is safe,” Sr Sgt Moore said.
“It is important anyone with a firearm licence is not complacent when it is related to firearm security.
“If you see anything suspicious, report it to police immediately.”
