Hollywood actor Russell Crowe has shared his love of working in Queensland.

The Academy Award winner has recently arrived on the Gold Coast to film his role in action thriller Land of Bad – in which he stars alongside Australian brothers Liam and Luke Hemsworth as well as Milo Ventimiglia and Ricky Whittle.

Taking to Twitter, Crowe, 58, shared a photo of a colourful sunset while praising the state as a filming location.

“It has been a long time since I made a movie in Queensland, loving working here again,” Crowe wrote alongside the photo.

“Everywhere you look this place is a movie in itself.”

In Will Eubank’s Land of Bad, Crowe plays an Air Force drone pilot who becomes the only guide for a rookie air support controller, played by Liam, on a mission to extract a Delta Force team from dangerous territory in the Philippines.

Crowe’s post came as it was announced that Crowe would again link with Highland Film Group, starring in the upcoming production Sleeping Dogs, which is slated to begin shooting in Australia early next year.

Highland Film Group is a co-financer of Land of Bad.

It continues a string of Australian productions for Crowe, whose film Poker Face, which also starred Liam Hemsworth and was filmed in NSW, is due for release this month.

Supported by the Federal Government’s Location Incentive and the Queensland Government via Screen Queensland, Land of Bad has been filming on location on the Gold Coast since September, including at Hinze Dam and Tamborine Mountain.

It is expected to inject $7.7 million into the state’s economy and create 270 jobs for local cast, crew, and extras.
