Student activist Drew Pavlou cops 30-day Facebook ban after post criticising Chinese Communist Party

Drew Pavlou will be unable to communicate with followers for at least a month as Facebook ban him following anti-CCP post.

Facebook has banned controversial activist student Drew Pavlou following anti-China comments he made on his account.

Mr Pavlou yesterday shared an article about Australia’s diminishing trust in China, referencing the country’s track record on human rights and escalating trade tensions.

“Wow how could this happen given unrestricted trade war and aggressive imperialism and Uyghur genocide” Mr Pavlou said.

“(A) nd the bashing Australian and Hong Konger students on campus. It must be because Australians are racist and evil and Yellow Peril!”

He was banned for 30 days.

Mr Pavlou was shocked to learn of the temporary ban and immediately challenged it for review.
The review was made and Facebook confirmed that the post did not follow community standards.

Mr Pavlou is concerned that the temporary ban could very soon become a permanent one, disconnecting him from supporters and fellow-advocates across the world.

“That is my fear (a permanent ban), I am very worried that this has and will take out a huge part of my platform” he said.

“This Facebook oversight board is supposed to be independent of the company and deals will violations of community standards, but they only process a small number of high-profile bans each year.
“I am worried they won’t even see this and the decision is automated by bots.”
Mr Pavlou is currently considering running for the Senate with Katter’s Australia Party.
