Three people were taken to hospital on the Gold Coast after a 6.5m boat capsized off Main Beach on Friday morning.
A large search was launched earlier after reports a vessel had overturned off Muriel Drive at Main Beach about 5.55am.
It is believed the vessel, with three people on board, hit a large wave before capsizing.
Paramedics assessed two men, one in their 30s and another in their 40s with minor injuries, as a search continued for a third person, who was later pulled from the water.
Three people were taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
A hazardous surf warning is in place for waters from K’gari to the Gold Coast.
“Surf and swell conditions are expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, boating, and swimming,” an alert from the Bureau of Meteorology said.
It comes as a second boat capsized at the same spot less than 24 hours later — this time with a father and son on board at the Southport Bar crossing.
The pair were thrown into the water when the vessel was launched into the air by a 4.5m wave on Saturday morning.
Luckily, a Volunteer Marine Rescue crew was nearby on a training run when they received the mayday call.
They reached the men within a minute, finding the boat submerged and significantly damaged.
In a remarkable twist, the rescue boat was skippered by the father and grandfather of the man and boy who were thrown overboard.
The father suffered facial injuries and was treated by paramedics.
It marks the second serious incident in the same spot across the Easter long weekend.
