A South East Queensland police officer has been stood down after being charged with assault occasioning bodily harm while on duty.

A police spokesman said the 43-year-old senior constable, whose name and gender have not been released, had been served with a notice to appear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on December 4.

The officer allegedly used excessive force towards a 20-year-old resident of Regents Park in Logan.

“The alleged incident was reported to police on December 30, 2023,” the spokesman said.

“The member has been stood down from the Queensland Police Service...

“In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when a member of the Service faces serious allegations of misconduct.

“This does not mean that the allegations against the member have been substantiated.”
