A 38-year-old man with multiple sexual assault convictions, including raping a teenager, has been sentenced for abusing his own young child.

A Queensland man with multiple sexual assault convictions spanning years has now been sentenced for abusing his own young child.
The 38-year-old man pleaded guilty to three counts of indecent treatment of a child under 12 in Kingaroy District Court on February 27, 2025.
Court documents revealed the incidents of abuse happened about a decade ago, when his child was 10 years old.
The court heard the man went into the child’s room one night, and showed them a pornographic video before sexually assaulting them.
The victim reported the abuse to police in late 2022.
The court heard the defendant had a “lengthy and serious” criminal history, which included multiple sexual abuse convictions.
He was convicted of indecent treatment of his cousin in 2014, who was 12-years-old at the time, for which he did not serve any prison time and was given probation.
He was also sentenced to five years in prison for raping a 17-year-old girl after a party in 2018, and served around 20 months in jail for this offence.
Following these convictions, the defendant reportedly breached his suspended sentences and his reporting obligations, which landed him back in jail in 2022.
The court heard the man had complex mental health issues, and was looking for help to manage his conditions.
He was reportedly in a new relationship and living on a rural property with his parents.
Judge Glen Cash said the defendant did not show “much progress by way of rehabilitation so far” and believed a term in prison that protected the community from him was the best option.
Judge Cash sentenced the man to two years in prison, to be eligible to be released on parole on October 27, 2025.
