Peter Gleeson: With Labor’s anti-coal Left pulling the strings in Canberra, get ready for blackout

Australia’s conservatives are so bereft of ideas and talent that they allow modern-day Trotskyites such as Anthony Albanese and Daniel Andrews to impose their regressive policies, writes Peter Gleeson.

It’s a scary scenario.

Come March next year, Australia’s mainland may well be a sea of red, with every state and territory – as well as Canberra – held by Labor governments.

In NSW, Dominic Perrottet’s Liberal-National government is on the nose, plagued by scandal, and Labor leader Chris Minns is playing a smart, patient game of simply giving them enough rope.

In Victoria, the Tory leader Mathew Guy is struggling with his own internal problems, and despite being a terrible government, Daniel Andrews is Winx odds, $1.25, to be returned.

If Minns wins and Andrews is returned, Australia will officially become a socialist nation, with Anthony Albanese running the country out of Canberra, joined by Labor leaders Annastacia Palaszczuk in Queensland, Mark McGowan in Western Australia, Peter Malinauskas in South Australia and Natasha Fyles in the Northern Territory.

Now, I’ll deal with the problem of bequeathing Labor the keys to the kingdom soon, as we watch them send the country broke, all under the guise of protecting the environment by stopping gas and coal.

But the elephant in the room here is the obvious question – what has happened to the conservative political force in this country?

How could these figures be so incompetent, so bereft of ideas and talent, that they allow modern-day Trotskyites such as Albanese, Andrews and McGowan to impose their draconian and regressive policies upon us?

Queensland is little better because Ms Palaszczuk is controlled by the unions and the left-wing faction of the Labor Party.

How Andrews could ever be considered a viable option to continue to wreak his wanton destruction on the good people of Victoria is not only baffling, but a question that only Victorians can answer.

Since when does flawed, deadly and cruel pandemic policy, integrity scandals and secretive, propaganda nonsense at the highest levels constitute a template for being re-elected?

Victorians would be better off electing Mickey Mouse than this bloke, but clearly there’s something in the water in Victoria these days – and it’s not fluoride.

With the help of the Greens and Teals, the Institute of Public Affairs believes Australia is about to be swamped with green lawfare to kill the gas and coal industries.

Legislating net zero makes more activist litigation a certainty, says the IPA.

Under the proposed legislation, almost every single major resources project in the planning and construction pipeline is at risk of being cancelled by green activist lawfare.

IPA research has identified that the 19 projects on the green groups hit list will, at a minimum, impose an economic cost of $101bn, risk 175,000 jobs and impose the greatest cost on regional Queensland, with 14 of the 19 projects in North and Central Queensland.

Under Labor’s legislation, ministerial approval of major projects, such as coalmines, dams, and infrastructure, would now require consideration of how those projects may affect Australia’s legislated commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050.

And here’s the rub.

We know how much Labor relies on the Greens for its preferences, which ultimately gets it over the line in tight contests.

We also know that the left faction of the Labor Party is now in charge, and they are anti-coal and anti-gas.

With Labor in charge in every mainland state and pulling the strings in Canberra, get ready for soaring energy prices, and then ultimately, a complete blackout.
