An 18th birthday event billed as “party of the year” has spiralled out of control after more than 30 people crashed the gathering and a man was charged with assault.
Advertised on TikTok and Instagram by host, Ayla Stevenson, a $55 entry fee was charged for the Clontarf party on April 19.
Guests were also required to sign a contract prior to entry.
“I’ve been getting so many DMs about this,” Miss Stevenson said in a video uploaded to TikTok on April 8.
“Yes, I am having this massive ‘Project X’ house party. It could be happening in north Brisbane. It just depends. The 500 people Airbnb party f****d everything up with Airbnb so getting an Airbnb is really f****d up.”
Ms Stevenson organised the event through group chats on social media, with the party quickly going viral.
“If you’re in this chat, a mutual friend most likely added you. If you’re unsure about coming, this is your sign to say yes. It’s going to be legendary, and you won’t want to miss out,” she wrote.
In videos uploaded to the group chats, Ms Stevenson outlined security and a live band would be at the chosen venue.
“We have lots of security. (The security guards) are not going to bash you if you’re doing drugs. Just do it down the street and come back. I’m not having anyone overdose in the bathroom I’m renting out,” she said.
“The underage drinking situation is getting dealt with as well.”
In posts shared to the Instagram group, Ms Stevenson wrote security would not “hesitate to kick you out, detail you or beat you up if need be”.
It’s understood more than 50 people attended the party.
In a post online after the event, Miss Stevenson revealed herself and two other people were allegedly assaulted at the gathering.
“My birthday party was raided by 30+ people. The group (mostly men) raided our party, stealing alcohol and other belongings, assaulted three women (including myself), broke the TV and punched a hole in the wall,” she wrote.
“The property was my friend’s parent’s office property that they allowed me to rent out for the weekend.
“The party was between my friends and I and had been planned months in advance. There hadn’t been a single issue or damage up until we were raided.”
Police were called to the Vernon St address just before 1am on April 20 after reports of a disturbance.
A man, who is believed to be 18, was charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one charge of wilful damage.
It’s the second out-of-control Brisbane house party police have been called to this month after teens trashed an Airbnb in East Brisbane on April 5. Miss Stevenson is not accused of any wrongdoing.
