Tributes are flowing for one of the world’s greatest surfing photographers, Martin Tullemans, who has passed away on the Gold Coast.
Tullemans, 68, died in Tweed Heads Hospital after a long battle with ill health.
He was lauded as one of the finest in his craft, capturing some of surfing’s most iconic images which ran in magazines worldwide.
One of surfing’s most colourful characters, Tullemans also inspired a generation of fellow lensmen before the digital revolution.
“Sadly Martin Tullemans has passed away this morning,” his sister Mary Shaw posted on Facebook on Tuesday.
“Loved by many. A beautiful humorous man who brightened manys’ day.
“His surfing images recorded the 70s to 2000 , from Kirra to Hawaii succinctly.”
Ms Shaw said there would be a ocean memorial for her brother at 7am on December 27 in front of the Coolangatta Surf Club.
