Police are investigating whether a Magnetic Island pub worker was hit by a car after attempting to prevent a man who he believed was drunk from getting behind the wheel.

Police are investigating whether a Magnetic Island pub worker was hit by a car after attempting to prevent a man who he believed was drunk from getting behind the wheel.
A man is in custody and investigations are ongoing after the hotel worker was seriously injured outside the Arcadia Village Hotel last night.
The incident unfolded around 10pm when the worker was hit by the vehicle outside the hotel in view of other staff members.
It is understood the worker was thrown into the air and knocked unconscious.
Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed a man was flown by rescue helicopter from Marine Parade, Arcadia to Townsville University Hospital in a stable condition with suspected spinal injuries.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said a man was in custody and was “assisting police with investigations”.
