Jayden Lindsey Ainslie from Morayfield is charged with causing the crash which killed Hervey Bay nurse Christine Lyness.

The driver who police allege was behind the wheel of a stolen car when he caused a crash which killed a Hervey Bay nurse over Easter has been named as Jayden Lindsay Ainslie.

The 25-year-old from Morayfield appeared in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance while excessively speeding, stealing, possessing dangerous drugs, and wearing of approved seatbelts by drivers, and two counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and driving unlicensed.

He did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on June 6.

No pleas have been entered and a police brief of evidence must be provided by May 24.

Police allege Mr Ainslie was driving a stolen Ford Escape on Booral Rd, Sunshine Acres when he collided with a car carrying Christine Lyness, 39, a mum of two and much-loved wife and nurse on Sunday night.

Beloved nurse, wife and mum Christine Lyness was killed in a horror crash at Sunshine Acres.

They allege the Ford crossed to the wrong side of the road and struck Mrs Lyness’ Mitsubishi Mirage between Condor and Moorabinda Drives about 10.15pm.

Mrs Lyness has since been remembered as a “gorgeous and caring soul”.

Police continue to appeal for dashcam footage.
