GYMS across the world have done workouts in honour of Hannah Clarke and her three children today.

The mother and her children Aaliyah, 6, Laianah, 4, and Trey, 3, were killed by her estranged husband Rowan Baxter last month.

Caitlin Langford, a friend of Ms Clarke, organised the gym event Handstands for Hann.

“Hannah would have loved it, she would have crushed it,” she said.

“But I also think it is very important for us to show her how important and how loved she was by so many people in the wider community.

“And maybe she knew that and maybe she didn’t.”

Ms Langford said the response to the event had been incredible.

“We’ve had over 100 different gyms and groups participating and that’s worldwide,” she said.

“There were four gyms in the United States, gyms in Bali, New Zealand, Hawaii, in the United Arab Emirates and mostly in Australia.

“The workout was written by a friend of Hannah’s.

“He wrote the workout with her favourite movements,” she said.

“She was an incredible athlete so the movements in there are complex gymnastics movements.”

The movements include a handstand walk, a heavy-weighted lunge and a ring muscle-up.

Thousands of money has been raised, with proceeds going to a number of organisations including DV Connect.

Ms Langford said she spoke to Ms Clarke regularly through social media.

“We met through Instagram and we had a lot in common,” she said.

“We were often pregnant at the same time, we were training at the same time, we had kids that were the same ages.

Ms Langford said Ms Clarke had an “iridescent smile”.

“She absolutely lived for her kids,” she said.

Ms Langford said domestic violence was hidden and insidious.

“I was hearing things in the week preceding the attack,” she said.

“Our last park date she had to take a rain check to spend a day in court because Rowan was able to get the AVO adjourned.

“She had told me about the stalking, about the kidnapping (of one of Ms Clarke’s children).

“In terms of visible signs (of domestic violence) prior to her telling me, no,” she said.

Ms Langford said she hoped the event could be held every year on the weekend of International Women’s Day as a fundraiser and “awareness raiser”.
