Motorists on the Pacific Motorway are facing hour-long delays after a motorcycle crash at Helensvale.
There is major congestion south of Helensvale, with traffic backed up past Ormeau.
Emergency Services were called to the motorcycle and car crash on the M1 southbound at Helensvale about 8am.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said paramedics were treating a patient with “significant” head and arm injuries.
The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 30s, was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
Police said delays were expected on the M1 southbound following the crash at Gaven between Helensvale and Smith Street.
