Fifteen Queenslanders have become millionaires overnight after the syndicate they were in had the lucky numbers in Tuesday night’s $70m Oz Lotto draw.
The syndicate was the only division one winning entry.
Each syndicate member, who were unknown to each other having purchased their shares at 15 outlets across Queensland, won $4,713,844.42.
The winners stretched from Townsville to the Gold Coast, with the lucky tickets sold at Arundel Plaza News, Arundel; Bellara News, Bellara; Biota Street News, Inala; Friendly Grocer Heritage Park, Heritage Park; Inala Newsagency, Inala; Luck Lifestyle Rochedale; Metro News on 1st, Indooroopilly; NewsExtra @ Parkinson News & Gifts, Parkinson; newsXpress Nerang Newsagency, Nerang; Nextra Bribie Island, Bribie Island; Nextra Kenmore Village, Kenmore; Noosa Village News, Noosaville; Shamrock News & Lotto, Southport; Supercentre News, Mermaid Waters; and The Lucky Charm Hyde Park, Hyde Park.
Some in the group have been uncontactable or were not registered players, so may not know of their windfall.
One Bribie Island man was woken by an official from The Lott on Tuesday night with the best possible news.
“Oh my god, that’s so good,” he said. “This changes our lives. We’ve been trying to get our first home, so this will do that.
“Unbelievable! My heart is racing!
“I’d happily wake up to hear your voice any day of the week!”
A Richlands man was initially sceptical.
“I thought you were sh-t-stirring me!” he laughed.
“I just can’t believe it.
“Funnily enough, I went to the outlet today to buy another share into the syndicate but it had sold out. If I had, I would have won double. But I’m happy with my $4.7 million.
“Believe you me, I will be looking at retiring!”
An Inala man erupted with excitement.
“Oh my god! Oh my god!” he joyfully yelled.
“I thought you said I had won $47,000, but now it’s actually hit me that you said $4.7 million!
“I can’t believe this! Thank you! Thank you!
“It’s such a dream come true. My dad and sister are standing right in front of me, and now we’ve got my brother-in-law on the speed dial.”
He said the win would allow him to travel overseas and reunite with family.
“I have some family overseas who are enjoying a holiday without me, but now I’ll be able to join them,” he exclaimed.
“I can’t stop saying thank you!”
The Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell said she hoped the remaining syndicate winners checked their tickets immediately to discover their early Easter treat.
“It’s remarkable that 15 Queenslanders became multimillionaires tonight! While we’ve tried contacting those who registered their tickets to The Lott Members Club, some may have yet to discover the good news,” she said.
The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1626 on Tuesday 15 April 2025 were 14, 32, 13, 29, 41, 23 and 8, while the supplementary numbers were 43, 4 and 40.
It’s the second Oz Lotto division one win to land in the Sunshine State so far this year.
