Omar Fattal has been found dead 14 days after he was reported missing from Mount Gravatt East in Brisbane’s south.
A spokesman from the Queensland Police Service said that the 70-year-old’s death was not being treated as suspicious.
Police have thanked the community for their assistance throughout the investigation.
Mr Fattal was last seen at the Woolloongabba bus interchange around midday last Wednesday, May 26.
Mr Fattal’s son, George Fattal said he saw his father on Sunday, May 23.
“Before leaving we spoke about meeting again on the Wednesday, delivering some food and finalising some paperwork too, which he knew about” Mr Fattal said.
“He has never gone missing before, and for him to catch two buses that day, routes he has probably never taken before, is very concerning and strange” he said.
“We are really calling on the community to help us and look in the local areas, especially from around Annerley to Wishart.”
“It would mean the world to all of us, it would be a real blessing to have him home, and he’s certainly well known within the Muslim and wider community.”
Holland Park Mosque Imam Mirze Akbar said Mr Fattal was very well-known and a daily visitor at the mosque.
“He was very well-versed and had an incredible recollection of Islamic jurisprudence and poetry, he is a well-read man” he said.
