New medical evidence detailing the impact of a second trial on Brittany Higgins’ mental health is expected to result in the charge being dropped and the trial not proceeding. 

A multimillion-dollar cash injection to help people pay rent, open up more emergency housing and launch a community education campaign is among the latest measures to be put in place by the state government to ease the housing crisis. 

It has been revealed more than 1800 false witness statements in court cases were made by the troubled Queensland Health Forensic and Scientific Services on whether DNA had been detected. 

The opposition will take its “national discussion” on the future of nuclear energy in Australia directly to the people using a survey to tackle fears and hear thoughts on the technology.
