A southside council is set to boost its coffers auctioning off an eclectic mix of impounded vehicles today, with the hope of raising more than $100,000 for its Rapid Response team.

The line-up includes everything from high-end European rides to burnt-out shells, offering bidders the chance to secure anything from a prestige vehicle to a project car at bargain prices.

Although the state and condition of the 55 vehicles on the auction list is unknown, several standout options have caught the attention of car enthusiasts.

On offer is an Audi TT, known for its sleek design and performance-driven build along with a white Audi Q5, a luxury SUV, and a black BMW 320i is another premium sedan on the list.

A blue BMW 318i is also up for grabs along with a white Mazda CX-3 and a Ford Ranger, usually known for toughness and reliability and could still have plenty of life left for the right buyer.

For those with a taste for classic Australian cars, the auction also features several Holden Commodores and Ford Falcons in varying conditions.

Some of these vehicles remain roadworthy, while others may serve as project cars or parts donors for buyers willing to put in some work.

Not all of the vehicles on auction today are ready to hit the road immediately with some better suited for those who enjoy a challenge.

A burnt-out Ford Falcon presents an extreme fixer-upper for anyone willing to take it on.

A black Mazda 6, heavily damaged, may appeal to Mazda fans in need of spare parts while a grey Honda Civic with visible damage is another option for buyers who are handy with a wrench.

Meanwhile, a smashed Ford Focus could be a goldmine for parts, while a burnt-out Toyota Yaris is more of a curiosity than a driver’s delight.

Beyond just cars, today’s auction will also feature several box trailers and even a blue fibreglass boat with a trailer, catering to those looking for something different.

The auction is taking place on Tuesday at 10am at the Logan City Council Depot, on the corner of Martens St and Plantation Rd in Beenleigh.

Interested buyers will have the opportunity to inspect the vehicles from 8am to 10am before bidding begins.

All payments must be completed by 12pm and buyers are required to arrange their own transport via a licensed tow truck.

For owners hoping to reclaim their impounded vehicle before it goes under the hammer, time is running out.

The council has urged them to make immediate contact on 3412 3412.

Proof of ownership must be provided, and all outstanding fees must be paid.

The standard release fee is $575, with an additional daily storage charge of $18 applied after 28 days.

The proceeds from the auction will directly fund Logan’s Rapid Response Taskforce, which plays a crucial role in clearing abandoned cars, addressing illegal dumping, and handling other community concerns.

Since July 2024, the team has impounded 224 vehicles and responded to more than 2250 cases of abandoned or unregistered vehicles left on Logan’s streets.

Mayor Jon Raven praised the initiative, highlighting its benefits for both the city and its residents.

“This auction is a win-win. We’re cleaning up Logan while funding essential community services,” he said.

With a mix of luxury, budget-friendly, and scrap-worthy vehicles up for grabs, today’s auction is drawing interest from bargain hunters, car enthusiasts, and scrap dealers.
