Preliminary final pain hurts more, says Adelaide Crows midfielder Scott Thompson
CROWS midfielder Scott Thompson says the pain of Saturday's preliminary final loss to Hawthorn is hurting more than his near-miss in the Brownlow Medal tonight.
CROWS midfielder Scott Thompson says the pain of Saturday's preliminary final loss to Hawthorn is hurting more than his near-miss in the Brownlow Medal tonight.
"You don't set out to win individual awards," said Thompson after he finished equal fourth in the count with 25 votes, five behind Essendon captain Jobe Watson.
"I'm more disappointed to have lost to Hawthorn. It's nice to poll a few votes tonight and I'm happy to see (team-mates) Rory Sloane and Patrick Dangerfield poll well," added Thompson, whose Brownlow claims were hurt by the vote-snatching of his fellow Crows midfielders.
"But I am very happy to see Jobe win it. I know the Watson family very well and Jobe is a very worthy winner of the Brownlow."
