After recently announcing the musical acts, Parrtjima – A Festival in Light crew have now dropped the line-up for the talks program of the festival which includes a number of leading Indigenous voices.

While the night sky is lit up by large scale light installations, on the ground the likes of actor, screenwriter and producer Aaron Fa’aoso, health researcher Roxanne Ngarulya Highfold, TV presenter Marcellus Enalanga and art historian Professor Gregory Lehman will be entertaining the crowds.

Musicians Troy-Cassar-Daley, Shellie Morris and Miiesha, who were recently announced on the musical line-up, will also be taking to the stage as part of the talks program to tell their stories.

Northern Territory Major Events Company chief Suzana Bishop said it was exciting to see the quality of the talent added to the talks program.

“Parrtjima always delivers a jam-packed program, and we’ve already seen a great music line-up announced,” she said.

“Now we’ve got some of Australia’s leading indigenous voices joining.

“The talks program is just one part of this festival, which has something for everyone and

creates a real sense of pride across the Red Centre community.”

It was a sentiment echoed by curator Rhoda Roberts.

“We’ve got an incredible program of speakers for Parrtjima this year, with a fascinating range of topics to be covered,” she said.

“This is a real opportunity to listen to and learn from some of Australia’s top First Nations voices, and that’s what the spirit of Parrtjima is all about.

“Listening, learning and interconnecting to better understand each other.”

The festival is set to run from April 12 to 21 and has a new initiative run in partnership with Alice Springs Town Council called Late Night feat. Parrtjima.

From 5.30pm to 8.30pm the Alice Springs CBD will have food stalls, music, late-night shopping, a pop-up cinema with free popcorn and a bouncy castle for the kids among other things.
