A paraglider has plunged onto rocks on Sydney’s northern beaches in front of stunned onlookers who said they “couldn’t understand” the attempt on a windless day.

A massive rescue operation is underway after a paraglider smashed into rocks on Sydney’s northern beaches.
Witnesses said they watched as the adventurer took off from Bangalley Head north of Avalon beach and plunged straight down.
“There was just no wind. I couldn’t understand why they did it,” one local said.
The paraglider landed in a “precarious position” according to police reports and has walked away with “a couple of scratches” after a police rescue squad and helicopter were called in to bring the glider to safety.
