Peter Gleeson on how universities brainwash our kids with Left-wing lunacy

UNLESS parents take a stand, our kids will be infected with the Left-wing lunacy that dominates Australian universities, writes Peter Gleeson.

Our universities are brainwashing our young people, writes Peter Gleeson.
Our universities are brainwashing our young people, writes Peter Gleeson.

OUR universities are brainwashing our young people. And unless parents take a stand, the next generation of Australians will become captives of Left-wing academics intent on destroying this country’s cultural heritage, arrogantly pushing their self-deluded beliefs.

We’re now in a 21st century academic funk where socialists are running universities and imposing their frustration and hatred of anything other than their own beliefs on to our children. Unfortunately, for many young students, embracing Marxist doctrine is the difference between graduating or failing.

CREDLIN: ‘THE OTHER SIDE IS WORSE’ IS NOT AN ELECTION STRATEGY

We know there are academics who mark down students who won’t follow their teachings, even though a pupil may vehemently oppose those views. We’re losing the next generation to this toxic form of political correctness which restricts free speech and stifles open and inclusive debate.

The thought police are everywhere, judging what we say about gender, sexuality, ethnicity, physical appearance or social background. Did you know that last Christmas, Santa was banned from saying “ho ho ho’’ for fear of offending women? An MP’s maiden speech is now called their “first’’ speech. Sea World has renamed its fairy penguins “little’’ penguins. It’s chalkboard, not blackboard. The list goes on.

In a speech last week, outgoing public service commissioner John Lloyd blasted do-gooders and complained about the nanny state. He said our “healthy scepticism about authority” was “no longer evident”.

“We are deluged at every turn by do-gooders telling us what we should eat and drink, how we should exercise, how we should think,’’ he said. “It seems every day is a world day for either genuine or mindless causes for good. Virtue signalling is rampant in some quarters.”

Lloyd has had a long and distinguished career in the public service. He’s seen it all. For a guy with his experience to suggest we’re losing the plot suggests there’s a bigger problem at play.

Pawnote: Last week’s column exposing animal rights activists trying to close greyhound racing sparked a huge response. The zealots piled on. But it seems racing integrity officials are using every trick in the book to keep greyhound industry participants on the sidelines. I think parts of greyhound officialdom have now become part of the problem. I’ll keep you posted.
