As of June 2024, total visitor expenditure to Victoria reached $39.2 billion.

Since 2016, Melbourne CBD has added over 7,000 hotel rooms – an increase of 40 per cent.

In 2016, Sydney’s CBD had 5,000 more hotel rooms than Melbourne, but Melbourne has now overtaken Sydney as the largest hotel market in Australia with over 26,000 rooms.

• The Australian F1 Grand Prix is here until 2037. This year’s Grand Prix set an attendance record of more than 450,000 fans – an increase of more than 130,000 people on the 2014 event.

• AFL Grand Final at the MCG until 2059.

• The Australian Open is locked in until 2046. This year’s AO smashed the 1 million fans record – little more than 640,000 people attended the event back in 2014.

• MotoGP Grand Prix is locked in until 2026.

• Melbourne Cup Carnival – Australia’s biggest racing carnival, which has the race that stops the nation.
