Rita Panahi: Left-wing media is hiding Joe Biden’s litany of failures

The Biden administration’s incompetence and weakness is going unchecked thanks to the majority of the US media who continue to act as the Democrats’ unofficial propaganda arm.

We’re only four months into Joe Biden’s four year term and the US President has wasted little time in dismantling Donald Trump-era policies, from border protection to energy and foreign policy.

The impact has been immediate though the full consequences will take time to materialise.

While the overwhelming majority of the US media continue to act as the Democrats’ unofficial propaganda arm, there is no denying the litany of failures the Biden administration has already clocked up.

None is more consequential or predictable than the border crisis. Biden came to office promising to reverse Trump’s tough border protection policies and even said during the election campaign: “Immediately surge to the border, all those people seeking asylum they deserve to be heard … if you are fleeing oppression you should come.” And, come they did in enormous numbers though they’re not fleeing oppression but are economic migrants.

Some even assembled at the border wearing “Biden, please let us in” T-shirts, others have explained to journalists they made the perilous journey because Biden said they’d be welcome. The crisis has seen detention facilities fill to overflowing with some at 1700 per cent of capacity.

Reckless policies and rhetoric have consequences and the impact of the US border crisis has been devastating with hundreds of thousands of immigrants illegally crossing in recent months.

Indeed, the US is experiencing its worst border surge in 20 years and is on track to record more than two million migrants crossing the US-Mexico border by the end of the fiscal year, and that’s according to the government’s own estimates.

That’s the equivalent of the population of San Diego and Miami added together, or two Austins or three Bostons. Biden has appointed his Vice-President to deal with the crisis but Kamala Harris has so far failed to visit the border to see the mayhem first-hand. He has even bragged about the influx of illegal immigrants saying: “I guess I should be flattered, people are coming because I’m a nice guy, that’s the reason why it’s happening. That’s why they’re coming cause Biden is a good guy.” That’s a direct quote, folks.

For years the media painted the Trump administration as monsters for enforcing border protection policies and for “putting children in cages” but now there is an enormous increase in the number of minors in detention, who are subjected to far worse conditions, the media has lost interest in the issue, just like they did when Barack Obama was in power.

Sadly, the Biden administration’s failures are not limited to border protection. It’d be an understatement to say the latest jobs report was a big disappointment; instead of the expected million new jobs the figure turned out to be 260,000 with the unemployment rate actually rising.

Inflation has also increased with the biggest jump seen since 2008, the figure is so bad there are fears it could force up interest rates during a pandemic

But the Democrats’ protection racket in the media saw the news downplayed with the Washington Post telling readers the inflation figure looks much better if you just remove soaring food and fuel prices from the equation. Seriously.

The skyrocketing gas prices weren’t helped when hackers managed to shut down the biggest US fuel pipeline network, the Colonial Pipeline.

The Biden administration’s incompetence and weakness was exemplified by its failure to act decisively during the crisis.

It watched on feebly last week as big segments of the country experienced chronic fuel shortages with most petrol stations in some cities and entire states running out of fuel. In the nation’s capital more than 80 per cent of petrol stations didn’t have gasoline.

Instead of taking charge and ensuring the criminal network behind the attack was held accountable, the administration was utterly hopeless in addressing an attack which halted millions of barrels of fuel shipments a day.

The hackers demanded a multimillion-dollar ransom to end the crisis. So, what was the White House’s response? They not only washed their hands of the crisis but said victims of such cyber attacks “have to balance the cost benefit of paying a ransom” and Colonial Pipeline being a private company would be left to make the decision.

In the end the company paid the seven-figure ransom which will undoubtedly invite more attacks against American companies.

You can imagine what the coverage of that story would’ve been and who would’ve been held responsible if Trump was in power.

For four years the Trump-deranged media elevated every fact-free conspiracy theory and Russian collusion fantasy to a national crisis but now when there are genuine crises they are uninterested.

No wonder a Gallup survey last month showed only one in 10 Republicans trusts the media.
