Rita Panahi: Independent voters not buying fake news about Donald Trump

You can only cry wolf so many times. The many smear campaigns against Donald Trump are failing but don’t expect the Left to find a new strategy; they will double down on the lies, damned lies and the fake news until November 5.
The Democrats and their propagandists in the Leftist media continue to push hysterical anti-Trump lines but their campaign is faltering.
Years of verifiable lies being debunked from the “fine people” hoax to the drinking bleach lie to the bloodbath lie to the Russian collusion conspiracies, to name just four, has seen many voters doubt and dismiss biased news reports.
That said there is also a sizeable portion of America who has never seen the above lies debunked; sadly the media outlets they consume have insulated them from the truth.
But you can’t fool all of the people, all of the time and with polls swinging to Trump, particularly in the crucial swing states, the Democrats are in panic mode.
We can expect more hyperbole and manufactured outrage from groping allegations to lies about Trump being a Hitler-admiring, military-hating threat to democracy.
To call the most pro-Israel president we have seen, a man who has a Jewish daughter and grandchildren, a Nazi is thoroughly absurd.
That the Democrats have renewed the Hitler lines just two weeks from the election speaks of how desperate they are and how poor their internal polling must be.
In a CNN town hall on Friday Kamala Harris said she believed Trump was a “fascist”.
On the same day she indulged in more reckless, inflammatory rhetoric comparing Trump to Hitler.
The Democrats continue to incite violence against a candidate that has been the victim of two assassination attempts in two months.
Harris claimed that Trump would use the military, which she claims he hates, to target those that disagree with him. It was the sort of unhinged diatribe that is instantly dismissed by a growing number of Americans.
They’ve heard it all before. They heard the Russian collusion lies for four years. They continue to hear the dangerous and damaging “fine people” lie to this day despite it being debunked, even by Leftist ‘fact-checking’ sites like Snopes.
That hasn’t stopped the Left from continuing to claim that Trump called Nazis and white supremacists “fine people”.
Indeed, it is a favourite bit of fake news mentioned regularly by President Joe Biden including at his presidential debate with Trump.
It was then repeated by Kamala Harris during her presidential debate with Trump.
Of course, on both occasions the moderators failed to correct the verifiable lie.
That this falsehood ever became so big is a testament to the majority of the media abandoning any notions of fairness and becoming activists to defeat Trump.
I recall calling out this lie back in 2017 after watching footage of the press conference and hearing Trump say “you also had people that were very fine people on both sides” referring to people protesting against the removal of statutes including one of Robert E Lee.
He then went on to say “I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally.” He couldn’t be clearer and yet the “fine people” lie has raged for years with Biden claiming it was the main motivator for his decision to enter the presidential race.
This week a new lie, published by the oft-discredited Atlantic, was pushed uncritically by much of the media despite it being almost instantly debunked.
The Atlantic story leads with the horrific murder of army Private Vanessa Guillén, and claims that Trump offered to pay for her funeral and then became enraged and refused when he found out the cost was $60,000.
The only problem is that her own family disputes the report and have slammed the Atlantic “for exploiting” their loved one’s death to push political lies.
The family lawyer, Natalie Khawam, who the Atlantic quotes has also confirmed that the publication misrepresented her and “outright lied” and used Vanessa’s murder “for cheap political gain.”
It’s little wonder that trust in the media is at historic lows in the US.
Only Democrats have any trust in the media with 54 per cent saying they have a great deal or fair amount of trust in the media, according to the latest Gallup poll released this month.
Only one in 10 Republicans and 27 per cent of independents have a great deal or fair amount of trust in the media.
And it’s that last figure that could be the Democrats’ downfall.
The independent voters they are counting on are not buying the fake news about Trump.
