‘Trash celebrity’ Katie Hopkins deserves to be booted out
God knows why a clickbait troll like Katie Hopkins was allowed to come to Australia in the first place, but now she’s gone I leave her with this final message.

There’s just one more thing to say to Right-wing British columnist Katie Hopkins now that she’s got the boot from Australia — stay out.
But there’s also one more thing to ask the politicians who let her in in the first place, even before she posted video boasting that she was scaring staff in a Sydney quarantine hotel.
What were you thinking?
Hopkins is a click-bait troll made famous by social media, where cruelty sells.
That made Channel 7 stupidly think she was a perfect villain for its Big Brother VIP show.
Why was right-wing British columnist Katie Hopkins even let into Australia?
God knows why the NSW government agreed to grant Channel 7 extra places in quarantine to let in contestants like Hopkins, once sacked for tweeting Muslims needed a “final solution”.
Are we really so short of trash celebrities and moral perverts that governments must bend the rules to import more?
That alone should infuriate the 34,000 Australians overseas waiting to come home, after our governments slashed arrivals to just 3000 a week.
Now they see there’s one rule for “ordinary” Australians who just want to come back to their families, and another for big businesses wanting foreigners to be trash for cash.
And I mean trash. Hopkins has posted a video from her quarantine hotel blasting the “bastards” who imposed Covid-19 lockdowns in “the greatest hoax in human history”.
She’s entitled to that opinion. But she’s not entitled to then terrify quarantine hotel staff whose job is not to impose lockdowns but simply and sensibly stop travellers from bringing in more of the virus that’s already killed more than 920 of us.
Hopkins in her video – posted on Instagram and YouTube, but now deleted – said she’d been told to wait 30 seconds after a knock before opening the door for her food, to guard against infecting the staff. But she said “one game that I’m playing” involved “lying in wait” by the door so when staff knocked she could “spring it open and frighten the shit out of them and do it naked with no face mask”.
The Australian Border Force is now investigating whether Hopkins was actually doing what she claimed, but who cares if she’s scaring staff herself or encouraging others to?
Be clear: this “joke” wouldn’t just “scare” staff who don’t deserve such meanness.
It would put their health in danger, along with the health and even lives of their families at home.
Channel 7 is now cancelling Hopkins’ contract. Let’s cancel her right to come here, too.
