The West doesn’t want Israel to defeat its enemies, no matter how barbaric they truly are

Most wars are won when one side crushes the other. But unlike World War II, the West insists Israel must fight a new way — without defeating the Islamist terrorist armies which want it dead.

Insufficient evidence for Israel's Gaza hospital attacks raises legal concerns: Analysis

Here we go again.

Another Israeli supposed “atrocity” at a Gaza hospital in a war even Israel’s supposed friends seem not to want it to win.

Yes, most wars are won when one side crushes the other. Think how the Allies smashed Nazi Germany in World War II, killing millions and firebombing German cities.

How the US destroyed Imperial Japan with the help of two atomic bombs.

But the same countries which won those wars now insist Israel must fight a different way — fight its own war for survival without actually defeating the Islamist terrorist armies which want it dead.

For instance, the US, Britain and Australia repeatedly demanded Israel stop fighting when it had its foot on Hamas’s throat, and warned it not to invade parts of Hamas-controlled Gaza.

One consequence of this is that Israel is monstered for going after Hamas terrorists who cynically fight from hospitals, using sick Palestinians as their human shields.

Like I said, here we go again.

This time the outrage is over an Israeli operation against Hamas at the Kamal Adwan Hospital in North Gaza.

If you glanced at the media takes on what’s happened over the past week you’d swear Israel really was led by war criminals.

Here’s the first paragraph of a report by our ABC: “The family of a Palestinian doctor arrested during an Israeli raid on a hospital in northern Gaza fear for his safety after he was detained over the weekend.”

Our SBS, also taxpayer-funded, fretted that Gaza’s (Hamas-run) Health Ministry “was concerned about the wellbeing of Hussam Abu Safiya, director of the Kamal Adwan Hospital, as some staff freed by the Israeli military late on Friday said he was beaten-up by soldiers.”

Britain’s BBC also seemed shocked, adding: “The Head of the World Health Organisation has called for an end to attacks on hospitals in Gaza … Dr Tedros also joined rights groups and relatives calling for the immediate release of Kamal Adwan’s director, Dr Hussam Abu Safiya.”

And Al Jazeera, funded by Qatar, which funds Hamas, even claimed Abu Safiya, “who had documented the cruel impact of Israel’s offensive on his hospital, was severely beaten with batons and sticks by Israeli forces during the raid, forced to strip and put on clothes meant for prisoners”.

Wicked Israel!

True, a couple of the reports did also quote the Israel Defence Forces claiming it had arrested 240 people at the hospital it believed were Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists, including 15 who’d joined the October 7 massacre of Jews that started this war. Israel said Abu Safiya, a pediatrician, had been detained as a suspected Hamas operative.

Not that you were expected to believe those Israelis.

No, no. Amnesty International’s viciously anti-Israel head, for one, denounced Israel’s “genocide against Palestinians” and said Abu Safiya “must be released immediately and unconditionally”.

But here are crucial details missing from all those reports.

First, far from being “beaten up” and stripped by Israel soldiers, video shows Abu Safiya in his doctor’s garb climbing into an Israeli tank and shaking hands with the soldiers inside.

Second, this hospital is primarily for Hamas fighters. The Hamas Government has itself referred to the hospital as the “KamalAdwan Military Medical Complex”, saying it initially “provided to the military … only except for the children’s hospital”.

Unlike most Gazan hospitals, it’s run by the General Directorate of Military Medical Services.

Third, the hospital’s previous director, Ahmed Al-Kahlout, has been photographed in a military uniform, with Palestinian media reports calling him “colonel”.

Al-Kahlout was arrested by Israel in 2023 and under interrogation admitted he and some other medical staff were of the Al Qassam Brigades, the Hamas military wing.

Fourth, Abu Safiya, who replaced him, has also been called a “colonel” in the Palestinian media.

And fifth, Dr. Baxtiyar Baram, a Kurdish doctor who volunteered at this military hospital eight months ago, said it was used to shelter Hamas leaders, with patients their “human shields”: “I have seen it with my eyes that the hospitals have been used for hiding Hamas leaders … We saw them and even spoke with them.”

I should add that “genocidal” Israel meanwhile evacuated patients to other hospitals in Gaza, which it said were given “supplies, food, and fuel”.

Seriously, was none of these details worth reporting?

It’s as if the crime is not Hamas terrorists hiding behind sick children, but Israel arresting them.

No, the West seems not to want Israel to defeat its enemies, no matter how barbaric they truly are.
