Left’s growing violence will not end well

THE culture of violence on the Left is growing — and no one on the Left seems even to mind. Someone on the Right will be killed soon for political reasons, writes Andrew Bolt.

SOMEONE will get killed soon. Someone on the Right will be killed for political reasons.

See, the culture of violence on the Left is growing — and no one on the Left seems even to mind. In Australia it’s already bad enough.

Former Prime Minister Tony Abbott was headbutted in the street, masked protesters attacked me outside a book launch, and the Herald Sun’s Mark Knight last week had death threats made against him and his family for drawing a cartoon of Serena Williams that Leftist activists falsely screeched was racist.

We’ve also seen the fascist Left use violence to shut down meetings of the Right.

They attacked people trying to get to a speech in Melbourne by Dutch political leader Geert Wilders, or a dinner with Australian Conservatives leader Cory Bernardi.

They also attacked the audiences of gay libertarian Milo Yiannopoulos and Canadian filmmaker Lauren Southern, and this month physically harassed people going to hear former British UKIP leader Nigel Farage in Melbourne.

Last week socialists at Sydney University manhandled students trying to attend a speech by conservative psychologist Bettina Arndt, yet still virtually no MPs speak against this culture of violence. Are conservatives now too evil to defend?

But it’s even worse in the US, where the Left’s hate speech against President Donald Trump is whipping mobs into a frenzy.

Democrat congresswomen Maxine Waters even urged Leftists to harass Trump officials in the street: “Create a crowd … and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.

It worked, with Republican Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell confronted in the street by a mob, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen having protesters picket her home, and a White House adviser having his home address published by protesters.

Where will this mob-incitement lead?

Already in the election campaign, Trump’s supporters were attacked by Leftists, leaving some bleeding.

More seriously, Republican House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was shot and nearly killed by a Bernie Sanders supporter, and this month a Republican candidate in California was attacked by a Democrat supporter, Farzad Vincent Fazeli, who brandished a knife while shouting about Trump.

Meanwhile celebrities dial up the hate, with “comedian” Kathy Griffin posing with Trump’s apparently severed head, actor Robert De Niro saying he wants to punch Trump in the face, actor Johnny Depp suggesting assassination, and singer Madonna talking about blowing up Trump’s White House.

This can’t end well.
