Jihadists prove Donald Trump right on temporary visitor ban

THE foreign leaders damning Donald Trump for temporarily banning visitors from seven jihad-prone countries are being made to look stupid by jihadists.

Take French socialist President Francois Hollande, who urged Europe to have a “firm response” to Trump’s decision to temporarily ban refugees — as well as travellers from Syria, Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, Iraq, Iran and Libya — while new “extreme vetting” rules were worked out.

“Withdrawal into oneself is a dead-end response,” he said.

But at the weekend, a jihadist who’d just flown in from Egypt shouted “Allahu akbar” as he lunged with a machete at a French soldier guarding the Louvre.

Luckily, the soldier shot him, but wouldn’t French voters want Trump-style bans, too, especially after suffering so many massacres by Muslim visitors and immigrants or their children?

True, Trump’s list of banned countries does not include Egypt, but doesn’t this suggest his list is actually too short?

German Chancellor Angela Merkel also attacked Trump, insisting it was “not justified to put people from a specific background or faith under general suspicion” to combat terrorism.

Yet just days later, German police arrested another suspected jihadist from exactly such a background or faith — a Tunisian they said led a 16-member cell of Islamic State recruits and planned a terror attack in Germany.

Wouldn’t Germans also welcome Trump-style bans and “extreme vetting”, especially after a Tunisian “refugee” and jihadist murdered 12 people at a Christmas market in Berlin?

In Australia, it’s the same story. Labor leader Bill Shorten called Trump’s ban “appalling”, yet days later a Sydney court jailed an Afghan refugee and jihadist for watching extremist videos promoting terrorist attacks.

Ahmad Saiyer Naizmand, previously convicted of using his brother’s passport to leave Australia after his own passport was cancelled, had been banned from watching jihadist videos by a judge who found he was part of a close-knit group here that wanted to become IS martyrs.

Worryingly, Naizmand, who gave the IS salute from the dock, had supporters in court.

Think also of the Muslim refugees here who have turned to jihadism: Man Monis, the Lindt Cafe killer; Numan Haider, who stabbed two police in Melbourne; Farhad Jabar, who murdered a police accountant, and; Mohammad Ali Baryalei, who became an IS recruiter and fighter.

Does Trump’s “extreme vetting” of travellers from jihadist lands really seem unreasonable?
