Andrew Bolt: Myer Christmas windows protesters are losers who like to bully
Targeting the Myer Christmas window opening and spoiling the fun of children has really crossed a line because it’s just so pointlessly mean.

Many Australians now seem livid at having so many activists in their face, with no respect for our deep wish to be just left alone.
Even Jacinta Allan, Victoria’s Socialist Left Labor Premier, called pro-Palestinian activists “morons” for threatening the opening of the annual Myer Christmas windows.
Maybe Allan has sniffed how Australians are jack of being pushed around.
We’ve had roads blocked and paintings attacked by climate extremists, Australia Day parades and citizenship ceremonies cancelled by race warriors, comedians and women’s rights campaigners cancelled by biology-denying gender fanatics, place names and pronouns changed by language police.
But the pro-Palestinian protesters are the worst – stopping traffic, trashing politicians’ offices, disrupting concerts, attacking police, occupying universities and persecuting Jews.
This threat against Sunday’s planned big opening of the Christmas windows seems to have really crossed a line, judging from the public uproar.
That’s no doubt because there’s no connection between spoiling the fun of Australian children and ending the war in Gaza. It seems so pointlessly mean that the protesters just seem like losers getting high on their power to bully.
The protest was then cancelled, yet about 10 people still turned up at the windows, screaming “while you’re shopping, bombs are dropping”, and holding a sign: “You look stupid staring at windows when kids are being murdered.”
How grim and how selective their outrage at children in Melbourne having fun. Will these protesters ban their own Christmas cheer while Hamas still holds Jewish children hostage? Or while Russia is still killing Ukrainian children? Or do only Palestinian lives matter?
But it’s not just the protesters’ monomania or hypocrisy that’s so grating.
Many of us feel we’re losing freedom and control over our lives, and politicians like Allan just make it worse with lockdowns and bans on free speech.
Who are these protesters anyway?
I don’t know who the protest spokesman really is. She called herself “Amy Settal” – Lattes spelled backwards – but there’s otherwise no trace of her online.
Her name just pops up on a statement announcing this protest on an Instagram page called traumaandoatlattes, run by an anonymous woman saying she’s a Muslim lesbian single mother with a disability.
The statement got picked up by other pro-Palestinian activists and Myer buckled.
Have we become that spineless? The protesters who did turn up got shouted at by passers-by. If our institutions don’t man up, too, I fear some will soon do more than shout.
