Andrew Bolt: Why US race riots are rife with hypocrisy

While Joe Biden may be blaming Trump for America’s violent race riots, the worst protests have been in Democrat-run cities and states. His criticism of the violence proves the Democrats have been burnt by the very flames they fanned, writes Andrew Bolt.

‘War on law enforcement in the US’: Trump accuses Biden of siding with rioters

I didn’t know whether to cheer or damn Joe Biden this week when he accused Donald Trump of having “fomented” America’s violent race riots.

Should I cheer, because seeing Biden finally condemn the looting, arson and thuggery proves these riots have backfired?

Or should I damn Biden, the Democrat challenger in the November election, as a wicked hypocrite, damning Trump for riots that were actually encouraged by Biden’s Democrats?

Yes, the Democrats are up to their necks in this civil war.

All the worst riots — in Minneapolis, Chicago, Portland, Seattle, New York, Kenosha, Atlanta and elsewhere — have occurred in Democrat-run cities and states.

In many such cities, the Democrat leadership either tolerated or surrendered to the rioters.

In Portland, scene of more than 100 nights of strife, prosecutors announced few rioters would be charged.

In Minneapolis, the city council promised to defund the police.

In New York, the Democrat mayor slashed the police budget, even as gun crime doubled.

And not once in the four days of the Democrat convention that anointed Biden as their candidate did a single speaker condemn the violence.

Instead, Biden’s staff donated to a leftist group that paid bail money for people arrested in the protests that literally turned whole blocks of Minneapolis into a smoking ruin.

Biden’s running mate, Kamala Harris, also appealed to supporters to “chip in now” to “post bail for those protesting”, and in an interview last month she said the protesters were “not going to let up, and they should not”.

The Democrats clearly counted on the chaos to destroy Trump. Instead, polls now show a big rise in his support, creating panic in the media left.

Until now, CNN hosts had generally ignored or excused the violence from Black Lives Matter and Antifa.

“Show me where it says protesters are supposed to be polite and peaceful,” demanded one, Chris Cuomo, brother of New York’s Democrat governor.

But last week, host Don Lemon, another Trump-hater, warned Cuomo on air the protests, so often ending in violence, weren’t working: “It’s showing up in the polling.”

That finally brought Biden out of his cellar on Tuesday to give his first speech criticising the violence, but blaming Trump for it.

What a hypocrite.

But what an admission that the Democrats are now torched by the very fires they flamed.
