Andrew Bolt: Proof the identity of Australia is being destroyed by high immigration

The Albanese government seems to barely understand the irreparable damage it’s doing by replacing Aussies with immigrants.

Last week came proof that the Albanese government is replacing Australians with immigrants as it tears down our national symbols.

The identity of Australia is being destroyed.

Our latest fertility figures show Australian women have never had fewer babies per person in our lifetime – just 1.5 per woman.

To replace ourselves we’d need just over two babies per woman.

Yet our population is exploding because this government is meanwhile still bringing in about half a million immigrants a year.

So we’re getting fewer Australians who were born here, and many more immigrants who weren’t.

You might think this massive immigration is a happy coincidence when we’re not making enough babies to replace ourselves.

In fact, it’s a destructive cause-and-effect. The immigration intake is one big reason Australians are having fewer children.

All those immigrants need somewhere to live, but we’re not building enough homes for them. New home approvals are at their lowest in a decade, and you see the result. Housing has never been so unaffordable.

Even the Assistant Minister for Trade, Tim Ayres, last week admitted high housing prices were an “absolutely fundamental” reason women were having fewer babies. No nest, no baby.

It’s not just the lack of cheap housing, of course. Australians have become poorer per person these past two years, thanks to high inflation, high interest rates, terrible productivity growth – all made worse by a government that’s spending big and choking business with union rules, green tape and black tape.

It adds up to a baby drought, and to Australia being changed, dramatically, as the proportion of Australians born here falls – from more than 85 per cent 70 years ago to just 70 per cent today.

Meanwhile, this government is helping to trash our history and symbols, which helped to assimilate past waves of immigrants like my parents.

It flies three flags (two race flags), lets 81 councils ban citizenship ceremonies on Australia Day, and even has an ambassador just for our “First Nations” people. Last year it even tried to divide us by race in our Constitution.

Meanwhile, multiculturalism seems to mean celebrating every culture but our own as we crumble into a nation of tribes.

Australia is being changed in front of our eyes, without the explicit consent of its people.

Indeed, its identity and cohesion is being destroyed by a government that seems to barely understand the irreparable damage it’s doing. Or to care.
