Andrew Bolt: Penny Wong’s Palestine plan a win for Hamas

Three things Foreign Minister Penny Wong said when outlining her ridiculous plan to declare Palestine a state have revealed her frightening stupidity.

‘No other major democracy’ has taken the stance of a Palestinian state

I had no idea until now Penny Wong is stupid.

Not just too easy on Islamic terrorists, but frighteningly dumb.

That’s obvious from three things the Foreign Minister said when outlining on Tuesday her ridiculous plan to declare Palestine a state.

By the way, did she run her speech by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese before making such a fool of herself, her government and her country, and such a backstabber to Israel, our only democratic ally in the Middle East?

Albanese tried the next morning to hose down Wong’s fire by declaring “nothing has changed in (the) Australian government’s position”, before rushing from the media.

If he’s embarrassed, good. Wong has rewarded Hamas by publicly pushing a Palestinian state just six months after the Hamas terrorist group started this war with Israel by slaughtering 1200 Israelis, raping women and kidnapping around 250 people.

“The international community is now considering the question of Palestinian statehood,” she said in her speech.

“Because the simple truth is that a secure and prosperous future for both Israelis and Palestinians will only come with a two-state solution; recognition of each other’s right to exist; a Palestinian state alongside the state of Israel.”

Already we’re at Wong’s first bit of stupidity.

That’s not just because she’s sent a lethal message that Hamas’s terrorism works, which 41 per cent of Palestinians in a survey last month already said they believed.

It’s even worse.

Er, Penny, Hamas, which runs Gaza, does not actually want your version of peace.

It’s an Islamist group that forbids any state of Israel.

Its charter calls Israel’s existence “illegal”.

It’s not much better with Fatah, which controls the Palestinian Authority in charge of the West Bank, the other slab of Palestinian territory. It already rejected two offers from Israel of a Palestinian state, in 2000 and 2008, which would have left it even bigger.

So how could this plan do what Wong claims – to end this “cycle of violence”?

But to the next extraordinarily stupid thing Wong said.

Who would run this Palestinian state Wong is itching to declare?

Oh, not Hamas, Wong assures us: “There is no role for Hamas in a future Palestinian state … Any future Palestinian state cannot be in a position to threaten Israel’s security and will need a reformed Palestinian Authority.”

What? The Palestinian Authority?

It’s actually led by a Jew-hater, Mahmoud Abbas, who last year claimed Hitler murdered 6 million Jews just because they were “dealing with usury and money”.

It even spends $200m a year on a “pay for slay” scheme that pays pensions to the families of terrorists killed or jailed after attacking Israelis, including now the Hamas terrorists killed on or after the October 7 attack.

What’s more, the Palestinian Authority is so hated by Palestinians that a recent poll by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Social Research showed only 14 per cent wanted it, and 72 per cent supported Hamas instead.

That’s why Mahmoud Abbas has banned any election since 2006.

So how would Wong impose the Palestinian Authority on people who’d rather have Hamas?

How would she stop Hamas from shooting its way to power instead, just like it did in Gaza?

You and whose army, Penny?

Even an ABC interviewer had to ask Wong about this flaw in her plan.

ABC: “So how do you remove Hamas from Gaza without a ground operation in your view?”

Wong: “The question here is international humanitarian law and making sure that Israel complies with international humanitarian law.”

Oh, again the stupidity.

No plan, just another whinge about the only country with the will to stop Hamas.

And note the sneakiness.

Wong doesn’t just want Israel to play by the rules.

She actually wants it to stop shooting.

She’s just told Israel to stop its planned attack on Rafah, Hamas’s last refuge in Gaza: “We are urging Israel not to proceed with a major ground offensive in Rafah.”

So let’s sum up Wong’s plan.

She’s just given Hamas terrorists a huge propaganda win, confirming them as favourites to dominate any Palestinian state she wants, yet has no idea how to stop them taking over.

Sure, maybe Wong can’t be this stupid and incoherent.

Maybe there’s another explanation – that she actually doesn’t care about Israel and peace, and is just tossing Muslim voters here a bone to save Labor seats in Sydney now threatened by anti-Israel Greens and Muslim independents.

So, she’s stupid or sneaky in a dangerous way.

How else to explain Wong rewarding a massacre of Jews?
