Andrew Bolt: Warming claims not biggest threat to Islander health

GLOBAL warming is a huge money-making racket for countries like Samoa, and it’s not the biggest threat to their nation’s health, writes Andrew Bolt.

ANYONE who saw Samoa’s Prime Minister waddle to the podium of Sydney’s Lowy Institute last week should have known he was conning us.

No, it’s not global warming that’s the “single greatest threat to the … wellbeing of peoples of the Pacific”, as Tuilaepa Sailele bellowed while demanding that Australia have the “political guts” to slash its emissions.

Well, speaking of guts, friend, check your own. It should remind you far more Samoans are killed by what they stuff down their throats than by what Australians pump up their chimneys.

Fat — and diabetes — are infinitely more dangerous than global warming to Samoans, who, with other Pacific nations, fill out all top 10 spots on the CIA World Factbook’s list of the fattest people in the world.

Sure, Sailele may rant about how global warming is drowning Pacific islands and smashing them with monster cyclones, but that’s false, too. There is no evidence of more or worse cyclones in the Pacific. Samoa’s deadliest cyclone struck back in 1889, and its last category 4 cyclone was 27 years ago.

Rising seas don’t seem a big problem, either. The most comprehensive survey of low-lying Pacific atoll islands, by Professor Paul Kench, found that 40 per cent were actually growing, not sinking, and another 40 per cent were stable.

So why was Sailele here raging over global warming, calling sceptics “utter stupid” (sic) people who “should be taken to a mental hospital”? Why did he demand Australia make emissions cuts our Chief Scientist admits would make essentially no difference to the temperature?

Answer: never forget that global warming is a huge money-making racket for countries like Samoa that rely on making rich white countries feel so guilty they hand over millions of dollars.

From 2013 to 2016, Samoa managed to extract from the four main multilateral agencies handing out global-warming cash an astonishing $660 for every single Samoan man, woman and child. Only Tonga got more.

That’s money taken out of our pockets, too. Australia has pledged $260 million to the Green Climate Fund, $230 million to the Climate Investment Funds and $62 million to the Global Environment Facility.

We’ve given another $12 million to the United Nations Development Program.

See now why the likes of Sailele bang that global-warming drum? And why warmist journalists here report his shakedown without once fact-checking his claims?
