Andrew Bolt: Facts don’t count in ‘climate crisis’ religion

It is shocking that a Labor leader demands emissions cuts that will do no good but will cost billions and throw Australians out of work. Now he’s selling this con with a string of falsehoods.

Albanese: Federal government 'incapable of moving forward' on climate change

Ask yourself: if the science of this “climate crisis” is so clear, why do warmist politicians tell so many untruths?

And why do almost no journalists call them out?

Answer: the “climate crisis” is fake, but this is a religion and facts don’t count.

But for you who still care about facts, let me correct some new howlers told by NSW Liberal Premier Gladys Berejiklian and federal Labor Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese.

Albanese on Tuesday accused the Morrison government of being “ frozen in time while the world warms around it, and the consequences are there, with more droughts, with more bushfires.”

Three falsehoods in one sentence. And not a journalist complained. Scary.

Albo’s first falsehood: in fact, no Australian government can change the climate. We’re just too small. As then chief scientist Alan Finkel once admitted, even if Australia stopped all its emissions, the difference to the temperature would be “virtually nothing”.

Albo’s second falsehood: in fact, even the latest report of the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change admits “there is low confidence that human influence has affected trends in meteorological droughts in most regions”.

Australia’s most prominent global warming scientist, Professor Andy Pitman, has confirmed “there is no direct link between climate change and drought”.

Albo’s third falsehood: in fact, NASA notes that its satellites found evidence of fewer bushfires around the world. It says: “The total acreage burned by fires each year declined by 24 per cent between 1998 and 2015.”

It is shocking that a Labor leader demands emissions cuts that will do no good but cost billions and throw Australians out of work, and sells this con with a string of falsehoods? What have we become that we accept this?

And It’s not just him. Berejiklian now promises to cut emissions in NSW by 50 per cent by 2030 “to protect our planet” and “future-proof our prosperity”

Again, her cuts won’t change the temperature. Try asking Berejiklian what difference they’ll make. But they will hurt our prosperity. Just look at Britain today, where the mad dash to close coal-fired power stations and use wind and solar instead has come unstuck.

Britain now has a dangerous shortage of electricity. Gas and electricity prices are so high that many of the very poor will not be able to afford to heat their homes in the coming winter.

But who here cares? Never mind the cost of green schemes. Never mind that they’ll fix nothing. And never mind the lies.
