Andrew Bolt: Biden’s dealings with China and Iran a cause for concern

Joe Biden has already botched critical tests with two of the world’s most dangerous countries — and we should be worried.

President Biden agrees to nuclear talks with Iran

I had no idea I’d miss Donald Trump this soon. Joe Biden has already botched critical tests with two of the world’s most dangerous countries.

Yes, I know Trump is a liar who burned off a lot of supporters by screaming “election fraud”.

But look how new President Biden has so far dealt with China and Iran.

Last week, an Iranian-backed Shiite militia claimed credit for firing 24 rockets at a US base in Kurdish Iraq. By some miracle, only one American soldier was wounded and one non-US contractor killed.

There seems little doubt that Iran – or its state-funded terror proxies – is testing the new president, but so far the Biden team has refused to hit back, talking instead about needing an “investigation” and avoiding drawing “red lines”.

This was not the Donald Trump way. In 2019, another Iranian-backed terror group in Iraq, Kataib Hezbollah, fired a missile that killed an American contractor.

In response, the Trump administration bombed five of its bases. When radical protesters then laid siege to the US Embassy, Trump ordered a missile strike that killed both the Kataib leader and Iran’s most revered general, who was visiting his man in Baghdad.

That shut down Kataib, which last year promised not to attack the US in Iraq again.

But in comes Biden, and … well, it’s too obvious. Iran may not have ordered the attack, but Iran can be warned – stop all your militias or they, and you, will pay.

But Biden fired no warning shots. Instead, he wants more diplomacy with fascist Iran.

He wants to junk Trump’s policy to cripple the Iranian elite with sanctions until it gives up its nuclear plans. Biden prefers the kind of inspections deal with Iran that failed before.

Then there’s China. And another fail.

Last week Biden rang Xi Jinping, China’s aggressive president-for-life.

Biden latter said he’d told Xi he’d had to criticise China for destroying Hong Kong’s democracy and imprisoning a million Chinese Muslims because that’s what US voters wanted: “No American president can be sustained as a president if he doesn’t reflect the values of the United States.”

What, no gut convictions, then?

Indeed, Biden even appeared to minimise China’s oppression and genocide as just a cultural difference: “Culturally there are different norms that each country and their leaders are expected to follow.”

Missing Trump already.
