Andrew Bolt: Barnaby Joyce the only pollie who tells the truth on climate

The Deputy Prime Minister admits that the government’s global warming plan that his Nationals party has now agreed to is useless.

Taxpayer has been a ‘sucker’ for clean energy ‘rubbish’

Thank God for Barnaby Joyce in this age of global warming lies. The Deputy Prime Minister admits that the government’s global warming plan that his Nationals party has now agreed to is useless.

It’s a giant con.

Joyce is the first political leader to honestly answer what Julia Gillard dismissed as The Bolt Question: By how much will your climate policies cut the world’s temperature?

That’s what this is all about, right? This promise that Prime Minister Scott Morrison will now take to next weekend’s Glasgow climate conference to cut our emissions to zero by 2050?

Shouldn’t you at least be told the gain for all this pain?

Yet when I asked then prime minister Kevin Rudd in 2013 how much his plan would cut the temperature, he refused to answer. Nor would Gillard as prime minister.

How they hate being asked! Gillard’s climate spokesman, Mark Dreyfus, snarled “it’s a false question”, and Greg Hunt as Environment Minister in 2015 complained it was “a game”. Neither would give me an answer.

Bill Shorten as Labor leader at the last election also wouldn’t answer. Nor would Treasurer Josh Frydenberg two weeks ago.

It’s not just Australia’s political leaders who won’t admit their plans to “stop” global warming are useless and just for show.

Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce.

Ten years ago, I asked the European Commission’s National Expert on Carbon Markets and Climate Change how much Europe’s green schemes would lower the temperature. She dodged: “On its own it cannot do that.”

In May, the head of the US Environmental Protection Agency was asked five times what difference President Joe Biden’s $2 trillion green plan would make: “I don’t have a figure in front of me.” Do you smell that rat? You’re being conned.

So, like I said, thank God for Barnaby Joyce. I asked him last week on The Bolt Report about Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s wild promise to cut our emissions to zero, which he wants Joyce’s Nationals to support before next weekend’s big Glasgow conference on global warming.

I asked again: What difference would Morrison’s scheme make to the world’s temperature? Joyce, that rare politician, was honest: “Australia by itself makes no difference whatsoever.”

He’s right, of course. Alan Finkel, when chief scientist, also admitted that the effect of Australia cutting its emissions to zero would be “virtually nothing”.

Nor would the world, acting together, make much of a difference. Professor Bjorn Lomborg calculates that even if every country slashed its emissions as promised under the Paris accord (and many haven’t) the world’s temperature by 2100 would be cut by an almost irrelevant 0.05 degrees.

So if your political leaders – Joyce excepted – won’t tell the truth about their dud climate plans, what else are they lying about? Plenty. I’ve heard them say the Great Barrier Reef is dying, islands such as Tuvalu are drowning, and the drought (that’s now gone) was permanent. All false.

Now children are repeating such scares back at us, and are praised by idiotic journalists for having learnt the lies.

To mark the start next weekend of the Glasgow climate summit, Reuters made a viral video of children in Glasgow aged nine and under stating the following falsehoods: “If the world gets too hot then all animals will start dying”, “people won’t survive anymore”, “polar bears are dying”, and “the water will start rising and then there will be no land left”.

The ABC’s Q&A on Thursday chose a 14-year-old boy to ask this question: “Should I even think about having kids considering how bleak the future looks?”

It’s shameful, how gutless politicians and salvation-seeking journalists and teachers have terrified a generation of students with their fake science.

Meanwhile, they ignore real science that suggests the small warming of the past half-century could actually be good for us. The planet is greening, grain crops set records and we’re getting fewer cyclones.

Just last July, a study in Lancet also suggested this warming may have saved people, given we’re nearly 10 times more likely to die from cold than heat.

It noted that the world had seen “a large decrease in cold-related deaths and a moderate increase in heat-related deaths”, and this indicated “that global warming might slightly reduce the net temperature-related deaths”.

The Australian Government funded this research. Yet not one politician said – hey, look at this! Good news: Seems global warming could save more people than it kills!

They don’t dare challenge the scare, the cowards.

Instead, they offer their fake fixes to a fake catastrophe. And even Joyce, who’s knows it’s a con but doesn’t even know the cost, has now caved.

The world has gone mad.
