Andrew Bolt: Agenda-driven activists see sexual harassment everywhere

Some gay staffers in Canberra have suddenly become the symbol of toxic masculinity. Could this hysterical crusade against the government get any more irrational?

Today’s ‘bitter’ politics mean Morrison can ‘never be sorry enough’: Andrew Bolt

To a man with a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

To activists pushing the victim-women agenda, everything looks like sexual harassment.

So no doubt to their amazement, some gay staffers in Canberra have suddenly become the symbol of toxic masculinity and the woman-groping culture of the Liberals.

These are guys so brain dead they filmed or photographed themselves masturbating and performing sex acts on each other in the offices of both a male and a female MP — pictures since leaked and turned into a media sensation.

Quite rightly, the masturbator has now been sacked.

There are also allegations some had sex in Parliament House’s meditation room and smuggled in male prostitutes for a former minister.

There’s plenty to say about all this, of course. Disgusting, stupid, crude, coarse. Some might even wonder about a gay subculture in the Liberals.

But that’s not a topic the media left or Labor want discussed.

Too homophobic. Doesn’t fit today’s victim politics, where the only evil people are straight
white men.

Instead, the most amazing thing has happened. These gay men have been drafted into another victim agenda — transformed in the media into the alpha males activists claim infest the Morrison government and make life unbearable for women in politics.

Could this hysterical crusade against the government get any more irrational and dishonest?

You’ve no doubt spotted the crucial mistake these men made. Yes, among all the places they pleasured themselves was a female MP’s desk. Ah hah! Just the nail Labor’s hammers needed to crucify Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

“These lewd, disgusting acts are further evidence of the culture of disrespect of women in this building,” insisted Labor’s great scold, merciless Kristina Keneally.

Er, no. They just seem to be evidence of a couple of gay guys unable to zip it. These exhibitionists were equal opportunity offenders, also filming themselves having it away in what one said was the office of his boss. Nowhere was sacred.

But the chance to exploit them as evidence of women being picked on yet again was just too tempting for Labor and leftist journalists who’ve spent the past month trying to frame Morrison as an evil misogynist, deaf to the dangers women faced from his party of big swinging dicks.

And so the Guardian Australia groaned the sacked staffer “had at times been appointed by the government as a member of various committees — some which dealt with setting standards on safety issues including bullying and harassment”.

The Sydney Morning Herald frowned he and his mates were caught when the government “has been facing a series of allegations about sexual assault and harassment of women”.

And earnest Labor and Greens staffers staged a sit-in at the meditation room, saying they’d “had enough” with the culture in federal politics: “It’s disgusting. It’s humiliating for us as women.”

What? Gay guys masturbating and having sex is “humiliating for women”? There’s a hot take.

Naturally, the spineless Liberals surrendered to this dishonesty.

Government Finance Minister Simon Birmingham said the sex acts showed “amongst a small number (of Liberal staffers) there is clearly a disgusting and unacceptable culture, and we have to weed it out”.

What reaction would there have been had Birmingham been clear the culture he wanted to “weed out” was among gay staffers, not straight white male ones?

What a homophobe! He’d have been slaughtered for deviating from the script — that only women suffer and only white heterosexuals can be blamed.

The Prime Minister fell for this folly, too. Maddened by being vilified as a woman-hater, he showed the white flag and said he was now open to a key demand of middle-class gender warriors: quotas to get more female MPs.

Really? More female MPs? That’s the answer to a political crisis allegedly caused by … female MPs?

Don’t forget, the masturbating gay men were just the last straw.

This Liberals-hate-women beat-up began when a Liberal staffer, Brittany Higgins, claimed she’d been raped by a colleague in the Defence Minister’s office and had been made
to feel that going to the police would hurt her career.

Who did Higgins blame? Two female politicians — Defence
Minister Linda Reynolds and Employment Minister Michaelia Cash.

She called them unsympathetic. Reynolds called her a “lying cow”, before apologising. So having more female MPs would fix this?

What an appalling circus. Everything a nail, to gender warriors armed with sledgehammers.

Even gay men now treated like a menace to women everywhere.

Are we mad?
