William Tyrrell disappearance: Police search for answers seven years on

To mark the seventh anniversary of the disappearance of William Tyrrell, detectives returned to the place where the boy, then aged three, was last spotted.

'Something evil' happened to William Tyrrell

The police strike force tasked with finding missing three-year-old William Tyrell have returned to the scene of the crime seven years after his disappearance.

Detective Chief Inspector David Laidlaw, who heads the investigation, said detectives returned to Kendall with local detectives and specialist forensic officers to “have another look at the residence where William was last seen”, as well as other areas nearby.

“Further information has since come to light, as part of our ongoing review of the materials gathered by investigators since the moment William went missing seven years ago,” Chief Inspector Laidlaw said.

“As our team continue to conduct inquiries and explore all avenues of investigation, our focus has been identifying if anything has been missed, or if there are any details – no matter how small – that need to be clarified.”

Strike Force Rosann detectives are liaising with Deputy State Coroner Harriet Grahame, who has postponed handing down her findings into his disappearance.

The $1 million NSW Government reward for information that leads to the recovery of William Tyrrell, and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance, remains in place.
