Molly Meldrum is an Australian music critic, journalist, record producer and musical entrepreneur.
He has had a long and influential career in the Australian music industry.
He is best known for his work as a music critic and interviewer on the popular Australian music television show Countdown, which aired from 1974 to 1987.
He was also the host of the show, which helped to launch the careers of many Australian musicians and bands.
He worked as a music journalist, writing for several Australian publications, and as a record producer and musical entrepreneur.
He has been inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
Meldrum has been credited with discovering and promoting many international artists in Australia throughout his career, including:
AC/DC: Meldrum helped to sign the band to their first record label, Albert Productions, and was instrumental in promoting their early career.
INXS: Meldrum discovered the band when they were still known as The Farriss Brothers, and helped to launch their career by featuring them on Countdown.
Kylie Minogue: Meldrum discovered Minogue when she was still a young girl and helped to launch her career by featuring her on Countdown and promoting her early music.

In 2012, Molly Meldrum had a fall from a ladder at his Richmond home which caused a serious head injury.
