Carbon monoxide fumes are suspected of overcoming three people – including two plumbers – at Wentworth Point where hazardous materials crews have responded to the incident.

It is understood the two men had been using a petrol-operated machine in a confined space of the Foreshore Place building when fumes took over about 1.30pm.

The men and a woman were rushed to Concord Hospital after crews found them affected by carbon monoxide exposure after the machine had been used inside a unit.

Paramedics treated the trio before they were taken to hospital for further medical treatment. Firefighters from Rydalmere and Concord ventilated the unit using a positive-pressure fan to make the area safe.

Police and SafeWork are investigating the incident.
