Two young men have been remembered, while another is fighting for his life, after a horror crash between a car and a truck in Sydney’s southwest.
Emergency services rushed to King Georges Rd in Wiley Park shortly before 8.45pm on Monday following reports a BMW sedan and a truck had collided.
Two passengers in the BMW, 22-year-old Khalil Hamoud and 23-year-old Joseph Toufan, died at the scene.
The sedan’s driver, 20-year-old Youssef Hamoud, was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital in a critical condition with significant injuries.
The truck driver, a 24-year-old man, was not seriously injured but was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
A crime scene was established and investigations commenced by the Crash Investigation Unit into the circumstances of the crash.
On Tuesday, tributes remembering the two young men began to flow online with friends of the family remembering them as kind and respectful young men.
“I write this with a heavy heart full of sorrow as I know this beautiful family,” charity volunteer worker Rima Waizani posted online.
“I cannot even begin to imagine what their mothers are going through. Three beautiful boys, two brothers and their friend were involved in a tragic accident last night.
“One of the brothers Khalil and the friend Joey sadly returned to their creator, the other brother Youseff is fighting for his life in hospital.”
Isra Amini said she first met the Hamoud brothers when they worked on her house.
“Since my husband met them all he would talk about is how nice and respectful they are,” she said.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
As inquiries continue, anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam or CCTV footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
