Michael Bagala is one of the owners of Bagala Brothers Flower Farm and he told the Telegraph about the scale of the event.

“It’s pretty much the pinnacle of selling large volumes of flowers, Mother’s Day helps you get through the quieter months” he said. Mr Bagala is one of the many growers who work around the clock to ensure the public can access high quality flowers in the lead up to Sunday.

The NSW cut flower industry is estimated to be worth over $200 million at the “farm gate” and a further $500 million at a retail level.

Fresh flower demand is mostly dependent on fashion trends as opposed to other horticultural crops.

The week before Mother’s Day is the biggest sales period when it comes to the sale of fresh flowers. People from all over Sydney have, and will continue to flock to Homebush in Sydney’s West to grab a bright bouquet just before Mother’s Day.
