Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Jodie Haydon spotted in Sydney before short honeymoon
The newly-wedded couple were spotted bags in hand prior to jetting off for a short interstate holiday following their intimate and low-key bash at the PM’s Canberra residence.
Anthony Albanese and Jodie Haydon have jetted off for a short honeymoon, with the couple spotted bags in hand at Sydney’s domestic airport on Monday morning.
Flanked by the Prime Minister’s security detail the newly-wedded couple walked through the domestic terminal in civilian clothes, wedding rings beaming, before boarding a commercial flight interstate.
Dressed in indigo jeans and a navy blazer, Mr Albanese appeared relaxed carrying leather duffels in both hands.
Ms Haydon’s chosen airport ensemble was a white tee tucked into black flared pants, a dark beige jacket and a swipe of red lipstick.
Mr Albanese’s confirmed the pair will embark on a short honeymoon returning Friday, with Defence Minister Richard Marles and Foreign Minister Penny Wong alternating as Acting Prime Minister in his absence.
The couple opted for a small intimate gathering at Mr Albanese’s Canberra residence, The Lodge, on Saturday with close friends and family.
Australia’s first dog, Toto the cavoodle also played a starring role as ring bearer, alongside flower girl Ella, Ms Haydon’s five-year-old niece.
Guests were treated to a curated playlist of classic bangers, new Aussie talent and old pub rock hits, plus a two-tier cake and tins of Albo & Jodie beer crafted by Inner West brewery Willie the Boatman, shipped straight from Mr Albanese’s electorate.
Ms Haylen’s beloved grandma, Claire, was unable to attend due to travel logistics.
A small group of Labor’s cabinet also made the tightly curated guest list including Mr Marles, Ms Wong, Treasurer Jim Chalmers, Finance Minister Katy Gallagher, Health Minister Mark Butler, Industry Minister Tim Ayres and NDIS Minister Jenny McAllister.
Also in attendance of former NSW transport minister Jo Haylen, who worked for Mr Albanese before entering Macquarie St.
