NSW Food Authority name and shame list for 2025

Before buying your hot cross buns for this weekend, here’s how your local restaurants, cafes, and kitchens are rating under updated NSW Food Authority standards.

Over the past six months, numerous businesses across NSW from the regions to the city have been penalised for breaching food safety and hygiene regulations.

The NSW Food Authority’s publicly accessible “name and shame” register has identified the latest eateries issued penalty notices, which include venues caught allowing pests to roam or not having food at appropriate temperatures – some of which received multiple warnings.

Businesses including Grill’D, Yass Clubhouse Hotel, Yasamine Lebanese Restaurant, Brickfields Bakery, and BBQ City Buffet were hit with multiple infractions, often with issues across various safety requirements.

BBQ City Buffet appeared for a range of breaches, including failing to maintain clean premises, improper storage of potentially hazardous food, and lacking adequate pest control.

Yasamine Lebanese Restaurant is also listed five times, with breaches including poor hand washing facilities, pest harbourage, and failure to maintain cleanliness.

In the regions, Yass Clubhouse clocked a total of four penalties for separate breaches, including failing to store potentially hazardous food under temperature control and have easily accessible hand washing facilities on premises.

A spokesperson for the NSW Department of Primary Industries confirmed the register is updated regularly, providing consumers with transparent access to current breaches and acting as a deterrent to non-compliant operators.

The majority of penalty notices were issued to businesses located in Sydney local government areas.
